Tucked in the Japanese Alps, the Kiso Valley has a rich cultural heritage. While there, we hiked the Nakasendo trail from Magome to Tsumago, along the path that the samurai used to take between Kyoto and Tokyo.
It was the perfect atmosphere to escape Japan’s bustling cities into some quiet, authentic countryside. Personally, I love the traditional architecture and austere vibe of the black wooden buildings and their contrast against the rolling landscapes.
